VPS is a form of multi-tenant cloud hosting. It duplicates the properties of a physical server – with the same functionality and processes – to be utilized by multiple users.

What is a VDS?
VDS is short for Virtual Dedicated Server. It is used to refer to a higher tier of VPS.
However, a VDS doesn’t provide a multi-tenant environment. Each VDS offers a dedicated set of resources (CPU allocation, disk space, memory, operating system, and bandwidth) that only one user can access and utilize.
A VDS consists of server hardware and operating system (OS) that is driven by a remote access layer that allows end-users to access their server from anywhere in the world over the Internet.
While VDS provides a remote dedicated server, a VPS is a virtual machine that lies on top of a physical server where host machine resources are shared.
